"Stages"
I did these 3 pieces for a show at Styll in Elora.
They simply chronicle my transition from living in an urban setting, to the country. "Raised in the Suburbs", to "Compressed in the City", and then "Settling in the Country". (yes, the first and second are reversed in the group shot.)
I had some copper sheets with a nice patina on them from a project from over 20 years ago, and sandblasted some of it away to get the effect of grass blending into the horizon.
Other elements are bits of aluminum tubing, exotic woods, broken bass guitar strings, etc.
I don't often make pure "art" pieces (that you can't set a drink on), so these are really rare for me, and mean a lot to me. It was an intense short and successful burst of energy. I was very happy that someone bought the whole set together, but I intend to track them down some day and see if I can buy them back for a price.
