About  Jim and Todd Woodesign

In 1987, a young Jim Todd registered the company name Todd Woodesign.  The name was intended to  simply imply that the company is Jim, and his focus was to design pieces that are made of wood.
33 years plus later, that's still the focus.
In 1990, things started moving the day after graduating from Sheridan College's renowned  Furniture Program. It was actually the third college he had attended on his quest to become a solid  Furniture Designer / Maker.
Since then, he has been creating distinct furniture pieces and living accessories for private and corporate clients, mostly in Canada.  He has exhibited and sold his work in reputable galleries, been published in various newspaper articles and books, and has been a juror for the Ontario Arts Council.  Most of the time, he's making one of a kind commissions. In between he makes smaller limited production items (ie: Swoop Tables)  for galleries.

Materials are carefully chosen domestic and exotic woods, often with accents of coloured lacquer or metal.
Inspiration comes from the timeless designs of the past, the unfolding trends of now and an imagination for tomorrow.
Designs are intentional and articulate, with studied proportions that will speak to you when you enter the room, and keep that conversation going for generations.
Construction methods utilize traditional hand skills, which are blended with the dexterity of today’s manufacturing techniques. End results are refined, fresh and uncluttered.

Home is the village of Damascus, north of Guelph Ontario, in a 1½ storey Victorian house built by his wife’s great-uncle in 1886. In 2000 he single-handedly built his dream shop; it has been cooking ever since.

Happy distractions are his family and the craft of making a killer pop song.

Jim Todd is alive today, making furniture pieces for tomorrow.

...however, they don't mention anything about what it takes to do it as a full time business.
